FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Beating out elite cartographers from across the globe, Moore Farms Botanical Garden wins the grand prize as the 2024 recipient of the "BEST Professional Recreation/Travel Map" from the Cartography and Geographic Information Society's annual international Map Design Competition. Designed by Michael Karpovage (Karpovage Creative, Inc.), the map was a challenge set forth by Moore Farms for Karpovage to accurately illustrate their sprawling landscapes to replace an outdated 2D map. Karpovage delivered on a massive level, producing impeccable depictions of every facet within their 1,000+ acre garden to include their horticultural collections, water features, art collection, pathways, various structures, and more.
The project with Karpovage also included an illustrated map of nearby Historic Downtown Lake City, funded through the Visit Lake City arm of the Lake City Creative Alliance (a 501(c)3 organization). Working with Karpovage was Shady Rodgers, Marketing, PR, and Events Director for the Lake City Creative Alliance. "We are honored and thrilled to have won this international design competition", Shady commented. "As an organization who celebrates art, specifically Southern art, this award truly recognizes the artistry of a phenomenal Southern-based graphic designer, Michael Karpovage. Michael's maps of both Moore Farms and of downtown Lake City have made a positive economic impact to our area on the hospitality and tourism front", Shady added.
