Construction is nearing its final stages in Downtown Lake City on brand new indoor/outdoor venue space and artist studios located on North Acline Street. According to the project manager, the Greater Lake City Alliance (GLCA), plans for these projects have been in discussion for several years. With an increase in demand for more usable venue spaces in the historic downtown district and ArtFields’ shift to becoming a year-round art town, the GLCA decided that now was the time to move forward with the development venture.
A recent shift of ArtFields from its roots as a 9-day art competition each Spring into a celebration of art and creativity year-round quickly uncovered the urgency for working studio space. With a mission to establish a base in Lake City where residents and visitors alike can watch art be cultivated 365 days a year, the ArtFields team is very passionate about this new endeavor. Dubbed the “Acline Studios,” this project will soon bring ArtFields’ plans to life as they expand their offerings to house studio artists within seven, high-functioning workspaces. Acline Studios will also be home to various other programs and initiatives as ArtFields further broadens their arts opportunities in Lake City.
Connected between The Stables, an already established and highly popular rental space, and Acline Studios will be Lake City’s newfangled event/meeting locale, “O.T. Hall.” With homage to Col. O. T. Hall, founder of the large-scale tobacco market enterprise in Lake City, this massive 4,800 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility can be used as one large rental space or sectioned off into smaller suites for more intimate gatherings. High tech details such as adjustable overhead lighting, advanced audio/visual equipment, clerestory, and sound dampening components, certify O.T. Hall as Lake City’s most revolutionary rental space. Featuring a series of exterior double doors, the venue affords renters the option to further expand the indoor space into its adjoining outdoor courtyard. The multi-purpose O.T. Hall Courtyard will boast immaculate landscaping designed and managed by Moore Farms Botanical Garden, a stage, adjustable lighting, and a permanent in-ground anchor system for tenting among other modern amenities. Conveniently located directly behind Lake City’s 57-room boutique hotel, The Inn at the Crossroads, the new O.T. Hall facilities will be piloted by Crossroads Hospitality Group.
