Humans have been growing roses for thousands of years; they’ve been used as medicine, currency, perfume and symbols of affection. Perhaps no other flower on Earth has reached the level of stardom as the rose has. Unfortunately, roses have a reputation of being difficult to care for. Let instructor Jonathan Windham put your mind at ease. His class will cover the origin of modern roses, how to hybridize them, rose cultivation and basic care.

Instructor: Jonathan Windham is a Darlington County native and graduate of Clemson University. He received his bachelor’s degree in horticulture in 2013 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Plant and Environmental Sciences. Jonathan works for Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service where he educates the public about genetic engineering in agriculture, using his hobby of rose breeding to introduce basic plant breeding concepts.

Cost is $15 per person. CLICK event website link for details & to REGISTER!
